Today's game against Grange was the first game for a month and much needed with the backlog of fixtures coming up!
Generals started the match brightly and forced the play forwards, playing some neat football, but lacked the final touch. Chances were being created, notably from Tom, Jim, Josh and Ryan, all going close. There was also the Grange keeper doing his best to keep a clean sheet! It wasn't until 29 minutes that Generals managed to break the deadlock, some superb passing through the team led to Josh who crossed into the penalty box for Jim to shoot at goal, the keeper saved well and the rebound fell to Ryan who tucked it away. This should have been the start to a comfortable win, but typically Generals allowed Grange back in and within a minute the score was 1-1. From a Grange corner there was a free header blocked well by Cory, but the ball fell loose, with no one reacting quick enough to clear, the ball fell to a Grange player to tap home :-(
Half time 1-1.
The second half was much the same with Generals camped in the Grange half. Today saw a lot of corners for Generals, mostly brilliantly taken by Tom, just need to find the final touch! In the last few minutes two corners saw Reece head against the crossbar and Titus just heading wide.
Final Score 1-1.
Today was all a bit flat, comfortable in possession but lacking the final finish. Tom and Jim combined well up front and Jake and Ryan looked good in midfield. Reece looked more determined after coming on during the second half, holding the ball up well. A disappointing day, not only the performance but taking a couple of nasty injuries to Phil and Titus. Man of the match today went to Tom who tried everything to get the team scoring, some superb corners, terrific shots at goal and excellent link up play, well done.
